Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use the Dental Shield platform?
Dental Shield serves two types of users: dental practices that manage staff, patients, and billing, and dental professionals like hygienists, dentists, and assistants who use the platform to find and manage shift work.
Do dental professionals need to complete any verification before working shifts?
Yes. Before claiming paid shifts or receiving payouts, dental professionals must complete an onboarding process that includes identity verification, credential submission, and a W-9 tax form.
How does Dental Shield handle payments for shifts?
Payouts are processed through Stripe Connect and follow Stripe's own terms and processing timelines. Platform service fees are applied to shift payments and disclosed at the time of booking.
Is Dental Shield my employer if I work shifts through the platform?
No. The Terms of Service state clearly that Dental Shield is not an employer of dental professionals and doesn't assume liability for the professional's work product - it functions as a marketplace connecting practices and professionals.
What happens if I release a shift after the cutoff time?
Releasing a shift after the defined cutoff time may result in restrictions on your future booking ability, so it's worth reviewing shift terms carefully before claiming one.
Can I arrange payment directly with a practice or professional outside the platform?
No - this is covered under the Non-Circumvention Agreement. Practices and professionals introduced through Dental Shield agree not to arrange direct employment, contracting, or payment outside the platform for 12 months from the date of introduction. Doing so can lead to account termination and liability for the platform's lost fees.
Will Dental Shield send me text messages?
If you provide your mobile number and opt in during registration or onboarding, you'll receive recurring SMS messages covering things like shift notifications, booking confirmations, schedule reminders, and account alerts. Consent to SMS is never required to use the platform.
How do I opt out of SMS messages from Dental Shield?
You can reply STOP to any text message, turn off SMS notifications in your account settings under Notifications → SMS Preferences, or email Hands.Infotech@gmail.com requesting an opt-out. You can always opt back in later by replying START or updating your settings.
Will I be charged extra for receiving SMS notifications from Dental Shield?
Dental Shield doesn't charge separately for SMS notifications, though standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply - check with your carrier for specifics.
Is my phone number shared with third parties?
No. Your mobile number and SMS consent status are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes - they're used solely to send the notifications you've opted into. Full details are covered in the Privacy Policy.
What are the rules around acceptable use of the platform?
You agree not to use the Services unlawfully, misrepresent your credentials or identity, circumvent the platform to arrange outside payments, interfere with platform performance, or upload malicious code or harmful content.
Can Dental Shield terminate my account?
Yes - Dental Shield reserves the right to suspend or terminate an account at any time for violating these Terms, or for other reasons at its sole discretion. You can also delete your own account at any time through Settings.
Does Dental Shield guarantee the platform will always work perfectly?
No. The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties that they'll be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components - standard language for SaaS platforms.
Which state's laws govern these Terms, and where are disputes handled?
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, and any disputes are resolved in state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
Will I be notified if the Terms of Service change?
Yes - Dental Shield will post any material changes on this page and update the "Last Updated" date. Continuing to use the Services after changes are posted means you've accepted the revised Terms. For related policies, you can also check the Privacy Policy or Support Center.
